What the Fvck
www.whatthefvck.com
All of a sudden 49 hit me. I’ve been writing since I wrote my first book in grade 7, and blogging from the inception of GeoCities. I’m tired of dreaming so I’m grabbing a fvcking spoon with a challenge to write under 300 words every day for 365 days.
Project start date: Nov 4, 2022
Project end date: Nov 4, 2023
Last post on site: February 2024
Project type: 365 writing challenge
Subject: Everyday life of a wanna-be handyman, husband, dad of 2, step-Lare Bear to 1, and servant to a 110-lb dog, 2 cats and 1 raccoon, 2 minus 1 hamsters, a gecko, and the friends his presence welcomes.
Just We Family Blog
www.justwe.blog
This is a site I started for our family to encourage them to share their amazing writing and artistic talents. The first post talks about finding my old website (Shaking The Tree – also listed as a project below), on the Wayback Machine, and missing having a place to share my writing. I had also been blogging on our wedding site (also listed as a project below), so the writing bug had already been back.
It wasn’t easy getting everyone to share their thoughts but we are all busy with work and school and of course, COVID-19 added its own struggles. Although the URL no longer exists, technically this project is not complete although the last time anyone posted on the site was April 2021.
Project start date: June 19, 2019
Project type: Family blog
Subject: I created this as a space for our family to share our adventures. I was also missing blogging but I had always wanted to create a site where multiple bloggers could keep the content fresh.
Project end date: Last post was March 27, 2023
Then They Were Five
www.larrypattisonjr.com/thentheywerefive/
(Formerly thentheywerefive.com)
On April 4th, 2015, I met the woman I would eventually marry. In that first year together, we realized we both loved planning major events, and we were determined that our wedding would be the pièce de résistance.
I proposed to my now wife, Tara, on March 16th, 2018 in Cuba and from that moment, the wheels started to spin from what venue(s) we would use, to who would DJ the big day.
Why Then They Were Five? Well, because on June 29, 2019, our blended family of 5 became one.
This site is now archived at the link above so we can look back anytime, to remember the magic of both planning our special day, and how wonderful it still feels when people say how amazing that night was.
Project start date: January 14, 2019
Project type: Wedding blog
Subject: I created this blog to capture the process of preparing for our wedding from the day we launched the site, to our wedding day and subsequent follow-up posts.
Project end date: June 29, 2020

Details to come …
Project start date: TBD

Subject: In the height of our local teams struggles on the field and with game attendance scarce, I wanted to promote the little things beyond the gridiron that truly make our experience at games memorable.

Save Ivor Wynne Stadium

(Formerly www.saveivorwynnestadium.com)
Details to come …
Project start date: August 2010
Project type: It was finally time to build a new stadium in Hamilton but where, was a battle that multiple groups had, to influence elected officials on the future of football in our great city. I had my own thoughts and in the end, well, you’ll have to read more to find out.
Subject: For months I ran a campaign to save our beloved stadium and to keep football at 75 Balsam Ave North where it had been since the original stadium was built for the 1930 Pan Am Games. From delegating at City Hall to penning many articles and blog posts, and spending hours in our History and Archives section at the library to learn about the history of the stadium and the Scott Block.
Project end date: TBD
Hockey Night in Hamilton (HNIH)
www.larrypattisonjr.com/hnih (not active yet)
(Formerly www.hnih.ca)
Details to come …
Project start date: TBD
Project type: I wrote a story about a hockey team coming to Hamilton over the course of grades 7 & 8. This was to be a website where I gradually typed that 100-foolscap pages (double-sided), out so that this story had a home beyond my filing cabinet
Subject: When our local 18,000 seat arena was built, it was touted as the future home of the NHL. That never happened but in the pages of this story it not only happened, but Hamilton did something Toronto has not done since the 60’s.
Project end date: TBD
Shaking The Tree | Thinking from the inside of the tree
www.larrypattisonjr.com/shakingthetree
(Formerly www.shakingthetree.ca)
I am hoping to capture as many posts as I can from one of my longest-standing blogs that I deleted suddenly in 2016.
The name for this blog was inspired by Peter Gabriel’s song Shaking The Tree. I was on my way to a writer’s group meeting and we were looking for a name for a shared blog for our group. I heard this song and it immediately struck me. I proposed the name to our group and they loved it. We disbanded months later but I continued to use the URL as my personal blog up until November 2016.
Project start date: March 11, 2008 is the first web capture on the Wayback Machine, although I am quite sure this site was started earlier.
Project type: Personal blog
Subject: From Postcard Stories to parenting, band reviews to renovation miss-haps, I covered everything and anything in my day-to-day life for over 10 years.
Project end date: June 19, 2016 is the last web capture on the Wayback Machine
