From around 2011 to 2013, I was in a band we named Steel Roots. We were mostly just a bunch of guys that got together once a week and jammed, but we did play a few live shows.
I have been playing in apartments and homes I have lived for some 30 years, and continue to play in my garage or around the campfire to this day. It’s seldom that I jam with anyone other than Spotify these days unfortunately.
These recordings are not professional by any means but like my writing, it’s nice to have a place where these passions exist beyond Facebook or my harddrive.
THiOS Theme
Theme to my podcast, THiOS. The background track is from Canva, with me on the glockenspiel.
Murder in the City by The Avett Brothers
MTV Unplugged version of A-Ha’s This Is Our Home. The harp froze a little in the end but it provides for a bit of a chuckle.
Stevie Nicks, Landslide
My harmonica track was inserted into the original Stevie Nicks song. My friend made the mic he recorded me on.
Man, I miss these guys. This was at Homegrown Hamilton. We’d never played this Wilco track before, but the one guitarist and I had played it a few times over the summer. So much talent on that stage. I learned a great deal from them from music I had not been properly introduced to before, to the knowledge and passion the younger bandmates had for this art form.
